As Christians, we should seek advice from God's Word, from our prayer life with God the Father, and solid Christian friends. Seek advice from your Christian friends! Don't be a lone wolf, because that's not how Christians are supposed to live. When you're in a sticky situation, go ask the people in your life that you trust so they can help you see this issue through the lens of a Biblical worldview.

Your Heart is a Liar
Your heart will always tell you lies, it will always tell you to seek after your own sin and not to lean on God's word.As a Christian, you will always have an internal battle between your evil heart and the Holy Spirit that lives within you.
"For from within the hearts of men come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, arrogance, and foolishness."-Jesus (Mark 7:21-22)
Your heart makes a lousy guide and a lousy god. It will always lead you towards selfishness, pain, sin, and death. Don't follow your heart; follow Jesus.

Don't let your wild heart be your shepherd, let Jesus be your shepherd.

Your heart isn't a harmless lamb, it is a wolf. Take your worries, your thoughts, your doubts, your deepest desires to the altar and lay them down for Christ. Pray through your wants and He will help you determine which line up with His will and which are not of God.
